Counselling
(with mind-body awareness)

Grounded Support for Emotional Healing & Personal Growth

We often seek a counsellor when we are struggling with a difficult time in life, therefore it makes sense to seek out impartial support at that time.  But you dont have to wait for what feels like a really difficult time.  We go to the garage for help with our cars when we feel ill-equipped to work on them ourselves, we go to the doctors for help with ailments we dont understand or are concerned about, we go to the gym to look after our body but where do we go for help with our mind, our psyche, our soul?  I like to think of counselling as "mind maintenance", providing a unique experience for self-development and growth as well as offering a place to work through those difficulties that feel too much of a challenge to understand on our own.  Counselling can give you the opportunity to slow down, take time out for you and begin to feel what is really present without feeling alone with your experience.

Whatever your reason, I am not here to judge you or provide advice.  What I am here for, is to work alongside you, as the two human beings that we are, sat together in a safe and confidential space where you can express yourself freely to someone impartial, without the worry of being judged or the intrusion of someone else's opinion.

As an integrative counsellor, I am able to work with you in various ways, depending on your needs in that moment with each session being tailored to you.  This could include exploring how your past is impacting on your present; re-discovering who you really are under the many life experiences and conditions imposed on you or how your current thought processes influence your feelings and behaviours.

🪷   A Mind-Body Approach to Counselling

While my counselling work is primarily grounded in traditional psychotherapeutic principles, this counselling style can gently incorporate tools that connect you to your body and breath (if it feels appropriate).  These might include:

  • Somatic awareness (tuning into bodily sensations and nervous system responses for insight, regulation & connection)

  • Guided meditation or grounding visualisation (connecting to inner wisdom and inner resources)

  • Breath and mindfulness practices to soothe and centre (for relaxation, resourcing, regulation and present moment awareness)

  • Gentle reflection to build emotional resilience and clarity

My approach focuses on integrating the mind, body, and soul because they are intrinsically linked. The body often retains memories and experiences beyond what the conscious mind recalls. By noticing and understanding the body's communication, we can gain insight into our inner worlds. This, in turn, creates opportunities for empathy, growth, and healing.
